Windows 10: Bug with desktop icons after updating to W11 24H2

Hi everyone, I'd like to ask a question to find out if I'm the only one affected by this ‘bug’ and if it can be fixed. On my laptop, I've upgraded to Windows 11 24H2, and I've noticed that as well as having moved my icons on the desktop anywhere, their size has changed! I have the impression that they are squashed they are less wide as you can see in this screen. https://i.ibb.co/p3fbr9c/image-1-1.pngWhat is disturbing is that the names of the shortcuts/folders are not displayed in enter, which is aesthetically ugly. Remove Linux Desktop Icons

I am not sure whether this will work (Ubuntu does not have icons like that on the desktop by default), but I suggest opening the trash bin and sweeping the icons into the window showing the trash bin.

 

Two bugs in GPU-Z - icon and version number

I ran into the very same issue with the latest GPU-Z version at Win 10 x64 - I rename the desktop shortcut and after some time I see blank icon for it, and reinstall-rename solution also won't survive restart. The solution I came up with was to extract the icon from GPU-Z and use it instead. This is yet to disappear after multiple restarts.

 

Desktop Icons Won't Stay Put

As per the issue description I understand that you are facing issues with desktop icons.

I suggest you try the following step in order to arrange the icons.

• Right click on the desktop.
• Click on view
• Check the option auto arrange icons.
