Windows 10: Bug with folder "properties -> Customise -> optimise this folder for" after update.

I like my laptop nice and tidy, so I use folder "properties -> Customise -> optimise this folder for" music, pictures, etc, the templates I have configured as I need and it was working pretty ell, after an updates one or two weeks ago... now all folders switched back to general items, even If I manually try to set them to "music" or "pictures" the seting is not stored, they stay forever in "general item"


So if I go to Properties -> Customise -> Optimise this folder for, it no longer seems to work like it did before. For example if I choose Pictures, click also apply this template to all subfolders, and then apply then it will change the view type of any folder with only folders in it to the large icon type, but any folder with image files in it will stay as only the detail type. Similarly, if I choose Music and click apply this template to all subfolders, and then apply then it will change any folder with only a folder in it to the music type template Name, #, Title, Contributing Artist, Album, but any folder with any audio files in it will stay as the generic template Name, Date modified, Type, Size.


I spend one or two weeks trying to solve it, but I couldn't and didn't find solution in forums either, including this one

Did someone found the same problem?

I would like to add more icons to the existing list of icons for customising folders.

I suggest you to Restore to Default the folders and document settings and see if it helps.

Step 1:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Download folder.
• Right click on the Download Folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

Step 2:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Documents folder.
• Right click on the Document folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

After performing above steps change the settings as you required and check if it helps.

Trouble deleting a folder

Thanks for the suggestion but it says "delete folder failed for E:\....." for each folder I try.
