Windows 10: Build 10158 - loses Office 2016 Preview (no data lost though)

Hi there

I needed to re-install Office 2016 Preview again after updating to build 10158. - Didn't lose any data (Outlook 2016 for example uses same data files as Office 2010 which remains installed).

Not a serious issue - but could flummix a few people.

Simply re-install the Preview again.

How come some people all ready have windows 10 and are asking questions

Windows 10 won't be available until JULY 29th. At the moment we are using the "Preview Build". Build 10158 is the latest available.

How do I get the latest version of Windows 10 Insider Preview. I am currently on Windows 10 Insider Preview build 10130, and I see that Windows 10 Insider Preview build 10158 is out. How do I get the latest version?

 

Did not happen here... O2016 still works after upgrade to latest build.

I think I know what happened -- I did my INITIAL upgrade from build 10147. I'm trying another upgrade from 10130 and see what happens then.

Build 10147 while good was an Unofficial build so who knows what it does on an upgrade !!.

Mind you the advantage is that my trial starts again from SCRATCH so I've got an extra free month !!!!.

Also check O2016 for upgrades, mine upgraded this morning..

It happened to me when updating from Build 10130, Jimbo. No need to try it. *Smile

 

Which version, Woodyard? Mine upgraded Thursday or Friday.

 

Outlook 2016 says 16.0.4201.1006

 

That's the latest version; you're good to go. *Smile

Edit: Seems to me that with the Public Preview of Office 365 (with the latest updates) out here in the wild, Microsoft is getting ready to make an announcement soon. *Smile

 

I went from 10147 to the current build, my 2016 didn't reinstall (That I know of) It did ask me to reactivate tho.

Office 2016 Preview

 

For many of us, when we updated to Builds 10158, 10159 and 10162, Office 365 gave three errors:

1. A never ending loop telling the user to sign into his/her O365 account.
2. Another error having the user sign into his/her O365 account that was just a bit different that #1.
3 And finally, the one I got; Microsoft Office cannot verify the license for this product. You should repair the Office program by using Control Panel.

This is a Known Issue that doesn't seem to be confined solely to Windows 10 or solely to Office 365. I have just learned that both the Windows 10 and the Office 365 Teams are working together toward a solution to this problem.

Since this concerns both Windows 10 and Office 365, I have posted this info in the Build 10162 thread also.
