Windows 10: Build 1061 mail application security policies

Hey there - I have just installed build 1061 and it made everything way faster and more responsive.
The mail app however - after finishing an Exchange sync account - now displays the message attached "You must make your PC more secure..." and has an "Enforce these polices" button.
This pops up every few minutes while in mail and no matter how many times I click it - nothing changes.

Any ideas? Please see the file attached for the exact message.

Unable to reset EAS Security Policy - Windows 10

I am unable to find out how to remove EAS Security policies since I added an account to the Mail application on Windows 10. I have removed the Mail account but unlike on Windows 8 I cannot reset security policies through control panel.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

But it says "mandatory server policy failed"

does it have anything to do with the security policies??/

 

I ran into this with build 10074 as well. I needed to convert my account to a local account, then hit the 'enforce these policies', which actually did apply the policies, and then I converted my account back to my MSFT account.

I get an error when I try to disconnect my Microsoft account to create a local account.

 

If you're connecting to your work's Exchange server, then they can enforce certain policies to allow you to connect to them. One of those policies is that your password meets certain complexity requirements. You can take it up with your Exchange administrator, but I doubt they'll be very sympathetic.

 

My situation is a little strange. For me, I get this message when my Windows 10 account is connected to my Microsoft account. I click to enforce the policy but when I look in the mobile phones section of my company Outlook Web Access the policy is denied. Even though my password has not changed for my Exchange account that Windows 8.1 and my Windows Phone accept just fine and for them the policy is accepted.

Using my Windows 10 local account the message to enforce policies does not appear after I add my Exchange account. If I sign out and log back in to my Windows 10 account linked to my Microsoft account (with the same Exchange email address added in the Mail app) then the dialog to enforce policies keeps appearing.

Any thoughts? I am in the latest build - 10122.

Your company may have an Exchange policy that prohibits connecting to their Exchange server from an account controlled by a third party.

It may be that WIndows 10 adds new enforcement of policies, or gives them new meaning. For example, I notice the dialog mentions enforcing number of attempts to log in. It may be that your company has a policy that requires the account be disabled after a certain number of failed login attempts. Microsoft accounts don't do that, so it would fail the security policy.

As for why it would work in Windows 8.1, Windows 8.1 might not enforce that policy for Microsoft accounts, but Windows 10 does...

 

What is interesting is that I never failed log in on my Windows 10 machine for the Exchange account. It is like it does not even try when I try to sync the account. I wonder if anyone else has got an Exchange account to work in Windows 10? My Yahoo account works fine. I guess the policies in Windows 10 changed somewhat.

My Exchange account is the only thing in Windows 10 TP that I can't get to work. Everything else that I need works fine. I don't want to have to reinstall or anything like that but any suggestions are very welcome. Out of interest what would I have to check on my companies end in terms of their company Exchange settings?

Exchange accounts that require S/MIME encryption or signature support might fail to syncSome policy settings related to sync can be resolved only by your IT admin.

There also seems to be a number of other posts on this in the Microsoft forums, and the consensus seems to be, convert your account to a local account, sync your email, then convert it back to the Microsoft Account and it should be working.

I will show it to my IT admin tomorrow. If it is a known issue will it be resolved in a future Windows 10 build? The reason I ask is that Windows 8 and Windows Phone sync just fine. Or was this something new added to Windows 10?

I updated my post above with a little more info

 

I tried converting my account to a local one. I delete and add the same Exchange account but the dialog to enforce policies does not even appear (yet it does for my Microsoft linked account) so sync fails too. I will try it again later and update you.

Whenever I try to disconnect my Microsoft account I get this error.





I look at my user account and it is listed as local but also connected to my Microsoft account.





Any ideas?
