Windows 10: Build in Cam doesnt work except on login via face recognition

Hey,

since in homeoffice i tried to join zoom meetings and figuered out tha the build in cam (intel(r) av stzream 2500 ) is not working. The camera app just shows a black screen. I also only see one camera in the manager, even though i have front and rear camera on my surface 4pro.

As i said, while login with face recognition, the camera works ( red dot is on), but also not always. Sometimes it says the camera could not be activated. Also the camera app from the app store doesnt seem to work properly,. since its responding very slow or does not respond at all.

I have been doing much on my own, reinstalled all drivers, new build,... nothing helped, talked 2 hours to microsoft straight and they also couldnt fix it, even a reset and windows new installationm of windows didnt help.



Does anybody here might have an idea?

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.



We understand your concern as the facial recognition is accepting your two year old daughter’s face to unlock the Surface. Ideally this should not happen.



In this scenario, we would suggest you to reconfigure/recalibrate Windows Hello with Facial recognition.

1. Login to surface on your account.
   
2. Press Windows + I key to open
   Settings.
   
3. Click on Accounts and then
   Sign in options.
   
4. In that see Section
   Face Recognition and then select Remove.
   
5. Restart the PC and login with PIN or Password.
   
6. Then Press
   Windows + I key to open Settings.
   
7. Click on Accounts and then
   Sign in options.
   
8. In that see Section
   Face Recognition and then select Set up.
   

Note: Make sure when you are setting up the facial recognition, your daughter or any other person should not be in front of the PC.
