  1. Built in mic got REALLY quiet, any help?

So, I have an MSI GE75 Raider and one day I was messing with my friends on discord with a voice changer called voicemod, long story short, I realized after uninstaling it that my mic got REALLY quiet, and since its a built in mic (which I don't really know where it is located), I have to have my head 5cm away from my keyboard in order to be slightly heard, I already went to the control panel, I already went into sound options, troubleshooting didnt find an issue and its already boosted to max and there is no change, and since its a gaming laptop, it came with a sound configurator called Nahimic, I already set all settings for it to be super sensative, so it doesnt supress noice, and so it tries its hardest to boost the volume, no change, is there a program I could use to boost my volume? or is there something I can do within my pc's existing opcions aside from what I already did? I don't really know when I'll be getting a separate mic, so I really want to fix my current one, any help would be greatly appreciated (and yes, I already made sure it is not using the "custom mic" from voicemod I guess, the built in mic is set to default and no other mics are enabled)

  2. My microphone is really quiet

    HELP NEEDED

I got a new mic and it was working fine until recently, i got a new mic because of this problem, but it has come back. recently my microphone went really quiet, people can still hear me but i'm having to put my mic virtually in my mouth whilst shouting for
them to hear me. My mic works fine on any other device like my Mac but not on my Windows 10 laptop. I have gone into sound settings and maximized the output not much change really, i've troubleshooted everything, I've reinstalled drivers, I've tried so many
things i'm at a lose, maybe its the Audio jack problem, so i would love any suggestions.

  3. Built in mic not working

    Hi Ravindran,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community, we appreciate your interest in Windows 10.

I understand the inconvenience you are facing with accessing in-built mic on your device, we will help with this issue.

Step 1: Run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter
    and check.

Hardware and Devices troubleshooter checks for common problems and makes sure that any new device or hardware connected to your PC is installed correctly.

Follow the steps to run the troubleshooter:

    • Click on Start; in the start search type
      Troubleshooter and hit Enter.
    • In the left pane, click on View all
      and select Hardware and Devices.
    • Click on Advanced and then click on
      Run as Administrator.
    • Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.

Step 2: Uninstall and Update the driver.

This issue might have also occurred due to corrupted drivers hence, I suggest you to uninstall the existing driver and update it.

    Steps:

    • Right click on the Start button from the desktop and select
      Device Manager.
    • Expand Audio inputs and outputs, right click on
High Definition Audio Device and click on Uninstall.
    • Restart and Windows will re-install the
      IDT High Definition Audio driver
      .
    • If it works fine otherwise try to search for the drivers with the help of model number of your computer from the Manufacturer’s website and install them.

Hope it helps. Reply to the post with an updated status of this issue for further assistance.

Mic too quiet at full boost

    Hello Rix,

We need to do further investigation on your concern so that we will know why your microphone volume is very low:

    • Have you recently made any change/updates prior to this issue?
    • Is this a built-in microphone or an external mic?

In the meantime, I would suggest that you run the Speech troubleshooter to fix common microphone issues in Windows 10. Here's how:

    • Press the Windows key and type in Troubleshoot.
    • Choose Troubleshoot to pull up the Troubleshoot window.
    • Click on Speech and hit Run the troubleshooter.

    Let us know the outcome.

    Regards.
