    Still think your missing the BIG point in this users issue, Mystere all this user has to do is buy a Windows 7 License, enter it in his existing Windows 7 as a NEW License Key, it will be activated legally and then user can upgrade to Windows 10 if he wants too.

    This would be cheaper than buying a Windows 10 Retail key. Plus keep his files if he chooses.

    I am afraid you are giving erroneous advice and above is not true even on earlier versions. It was not possible to clean install with Windows 7 without using a COA key.

    All OP has taken do us either buy a 7 key, legitimise install, and upgrade if he wants to keep programs, or clean install 10 and use 7 key.

    A 7 oem key will work fine if he finds a legit one.

    Alternatively upgrade anyway and buy a 10 key to activate.
