  1. C drive disk check every boot

I have the check disk every boot for a good while now. I’ve tried most solutions e.g. running chkdsk from cmd, disabling chkdsk then running it from cmd, running chkdsk /r and /f.

According to CrystalDisk Info the drive is still healthy 96%.

I haven’t done reinstall windows since I need to figure out where to store my saved files- I could either manually store my files or create a restore point or image.

Also if I do try reinstalling windows can I just reinstall using settings and can I leave the internal storage drive? And also will just letting it do it’s own thing every boot have any negative consequences?

  2. Checking Disk Consistency

Ok i did as viper suggested, but it stops checking at stage 3. It is still saying the drive is dirty, and still needs to be checked. I did a defrag and a disk cleanup, and suggestions?

    Check Disk On every Boot

i had this same irritating problem lately..i just disabled auto chkcdisk and problem solved *Smile C drive disk check every boot :)

    taken from:

Disable or Stop Auto CHKDSK During Windows Startup • Raymond.CC

"There are some people suggested to edit the registry but the proper way to disable CHKDSK from starting up is using the /x switch on chkntfs command in command prompt.

( go to Run and type CMD and press enter ).

The /x switch will exclude a drive from the default boot-time check. If you have drive C: as your hard drive, then the command to disable chkdsk from scanning C: drive would be:

    chkntfs /x c:

If you have 2 drive, C and D, you can disable chkdsk with the command below :

    chkntfs /x c: d:

    "

    worked for me

GPT disk conversion for both data drives and C drive

Macrium Rescue disk can be used to convert from MBR to GPT and vice versa without doing a fresh install of Windows.

    1. Download Rescue6.1.1081X64.iso - Google Drive and use Rufus to create a bootable USB disk. Skip this step if you've already created the Macrium Rescue disk.
    2. Download: BootEFI_Only-00-00.zip - Google Drive . Unzip to an external or an internal HD
      NOTE:
This is a copy of the first 3 partitions of my current Windows 10 x64 (450MB Recovery, 100MB EFI and 16MB MSR)
    3. Boot up Macrium Rescue disk and create a backup of your current Windows to another internal/external HD. It serves 2 purposes: you'd have a backup of your current Windows in case things go wrong and then use it to restore the C drive on the next steps.
    4. Next, switch the BIOS to UEFI and use Macrium to restore the first 3 partitions downloaded in step 2 to your current MBR Windows. No need to convert or Format, Macrium will do it.
    5. Again with Macrium, select the backup image from step 3, and copy back the C drive after the 3 partitions.
After this step, you should have: 450MB, 100MB, 16MB and C drive (GPT partition scheme)
    6. From Macrium, click on Fix the Windows Boot Problems
    7. Reboot. Your Windows should be in UEFI mode.
