Windows 10: C Drive Full and SD Card Corrupting Files

Hey,

hope this is in the right place. So my C drive is literally full. No space whatsoever. I've attempted multiple times to clean it out, deleting folders, using software to clean out junk files, everything. I cannot delete anything in the C drive because it's system files and it won't let me delete anything at all. This wouldn't be a problem if my SD card wasn't corrupting everything.

My laptop (SD card included) are empty. Everything was deleted and not by me. I tried another SD card that was brand new and still have the same problem. My word documents open blank and my download files say they're corrupted. However I can still open the SD card file and see what's on it, I just can't open the actual files. My C drive has 28GB that I only use for drawing software and word documents, but there's nothing on it but system files.

I've been searching for weeks to try and find a solution and haven't yet found one. I'm on a surface pro, windows 10. I cannot download any updates because of the storage issue and the laptop is only 6 months old.

Full SD card says it's empty, and has wierd folder names when in laptop

This case seems to be an SD card corruption. To recover the files in it, kindly follow these steps:

• Connect the corrupted SD card into a card reader and plug it to the USB port on your Windows 10 computer.
  
• Press Windows and type "This PC”. Look for your SD card under
  Devices and drives and take note of the drive letter assigned to it.
  
• Press Windows + R and type "cmd".
  
• At the Command Prompt window, type "chkdsk", followed by the drive letter corresponding to the SD card, then by a colon and /f. For example: chckdsk c:/f.
• Hit Enter and it will start checking your corrupted SD card for any corruption and will then fix it.Note: This process can take a while, depending on the size of the storage and the amount of corruption.
• Once the checking of your SD card is finished, it will prompt you to save lost chains. Click
  Yes and all repaired data files will be listed.
• Open your SD drive and see if the files have been recovered.

Deleting important files might affect the performance of your device. Instead of deleting/copying the files from your drive C to your SD card, we suggest that you move your other files like pictures, videos, and movies to your SD card. You can also move
some of your downloaded apps. This is to avoid system failures and corrupted files.

Welcome to the forum. The only option is to get a new bigger hard drive or remove software. How big is the drive? If you upgraded to 10 is there a Windows.old folder which could be over 20 gig?
