    C Drive losing free space

    Hello,

I have a new laptop. On 17/08/19, C:\ had 85GB free space out of 117 GB total. Every week, it is losing about 5GB free space, and currently stands at 66.7 GB. I do not understand why free space should be lost. Can someone please help?

Here are salient items of information:

    1. 128 GB SSD drive + 1 TB mechanical drive
    2. Only 1 active windows user
    3. No system restore points, checked as per suggestions available on www.
    4. "Downloads" folder configured on D drive
    5. "Documents" folder configured on D drive
    6. New programs installed on D drive
    7. Anti virus scan run - no infection found
    8. Drive Statistics: 117 GB total, 66.7 GB free, 25.0 GB in 162,742 files / 35817 folders

At this rate, the drive will fill up in 3 months. *Shock

  3. Why am I losing Free Space on the C-Drive ?

    Hello,

Using the TreeSize 3rd party app., I recorded the size of the largest files on the C:\ Drive, over a 3-day period.

Over 2 GB of NEW data has been stored on the C:\ Drive.

The data shows that every night , NEW Sys Vol files are being created. Sys Vol has grown by 1.6 GB over the 3 days, with 3 additional files created over that period. These 3 new files are in a long list of files whose size is < 1 GB. The # of the
largest Sys Vol files have remained the same (Files >1 GB; and others >2 GB)

And Windows also grew by 1 GB....with all the growth in the WinSxS file.

I'm not a software ace & need help from the community. It would be a mistake for me to start deleting files, w/o knowing which are the ones to keep....which to delete..

Can someone look at the attached Excel spreadsheet and give me some clear direction on my Next Steps ?

    Thanks,

    Gary

My windows 10 upgrade consumes all of it's drive c: space (50 GB)

    • My windows 10 upgrade consumes all of it's drive c: space (50 GB)
    • I am unable to install the update,
    • I suspect the windows 10 need this much space and it is some kind of glitch,
    • Please suggest a way to free up some space as I don't prefer to format partition C:
