    extend c drive storage space

Hi, I'm , an Independent Advisor.

Disk Management is a Windows built-in tool that supports to increase partition size with its "Extend Volume" feature. However, the program has some limitations in increasing disk space:

    - Extend Volume only works on NTFS and RAW partition. FAT32 and other file systems are not supported.

    - The Extend Volume will grey out if there is no adjacent unallocated space behind the target partition.

So, the ways to increasing C drive with or without adjacent unallocated space are different. Open the Disk Management, and follow the right tutorials listed below to extend the local disk C drive on your own now:

#1. Increase C Drive Space with Adjacent Unallocated Space

Step 1. Right-click This PC/My Computer, click "Manage", select "Disk Management" under Storage.

Step 2. Locate and right-click on the local disk C drive, and choose "Extend Volume".

Step 3. Set and add more space to your system C drive and click "Next" to continue.

Step 4. Click "Finish" to complete the process.

Note that if that unallocated space on your system disk is not behind the C drive, you can't extend C drive in Disk Management.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can help you further!

Extend drive C: but extend option is greyed out, recovery partition next to drive C:

    Hi Johann

I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this . . .

Windows has very limited partitioning capability, it can only extend into unallocated space that is immediately to the right of your C drive, if that recovery partition is between your C drive and the unallocated space, Windows cannot extend your C drive

You will need to use a 3rd party partitioning utility to extend your C drive, the free version of AOMEI Partition Assistant is totally free, fully featured and easy to use.

    https://www.diskpart.com/free-partition-manager...

With that you can select your C drive, click Merge, then add the unallocated space and click Apply . . .

C drive Partition extend option greyed out for ssd in windows 10

    Extending partition on hard drive.

I have a Windows 10 box, someone has set up badly. The 640 gig drive, is partitioned into a 15 gig C drive, and a 625 gB D drive. The OS is spread across C and D. Of course C is out of space, I'm trying to install Office 2010. Even though I set office to install on D, its wanting Space on C.
I used Disk Manger and was able to unallocated 200 gig from D. I was hoping to extend the C partition from 15 to 215 gB with this unallocated space. However, the "extend" option Is greyed out for C. I tried rebooting (when in doubt reboot)
same think, the 200 gig unallocated is there, but, the extend option for C is greyed out.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks James.
