Windows 10: C drive starts running at 100% after playing a game, and will not stop.

For about 2 weeks now, whenever i play a game on Steam for about 30 minutes or so, at some point everything just stops. Once the PC has Alt+Tabbed out, and ive opend the task manager, I can see that my SSD is running at 100% constantly, yet none of the processes are using more than 0.1% of my total disk resource.


Once this happens it is impossible to shut the PC down normally. I have formatted the drive multiple times, and reinstalled Windows 10 three times, but to no avail. If I play a game of any kind for more than 30 minutes, the SSD will slow to an absolute crawl, and I cannot find what is causing this to happen. Almost every time this happens I have to force PC to shut down, which rearranges the drive letters for all my drives, and often corrupts the master boot record. The SSD effected is a Samsung 860 EVO 250GB, and i purchased it earlier this year. I have had no problems with it up until this point.


Every attempt to repair windows, or use a system restore point, has failed. Even entering into troubleshooting has been an exceptionally difficult task, which is a problem that did not exist only a few years ago.

Resetting Windows 10 "Scanning and repairing drive C" stuck at 100%

After updating Windows 10, I've been having an issue where a game I played crashed constantly. After realizing there was no solution, I decided to reinstall Windows 10 and start from scratch.

After waiting for hours, Windows finally got to the second step. It's been stuck on "Scanning and repairing drive (C: 100% complete" for almost 5 hours. This is incredibly frustrating as I don't want to reset the computer and start all over. Is there a
solution to this?

 

My plug and play is still on running after 2.5 Hours

I would suggest you to stop the plug and play service and again start the service and check the status of this issue. Follow the steps below to stop the Plug and Play service.

  Press Windows Key + R key
  
• 
  Type “Services.msc” and press Enter
  
• 
  Right click on Plug and Play and click on stop
  
• 
  Again start the service.
