    Occasionally, I will turn on my computer and it takes a very long time for anything to work.


    Check performance monitor and


    C:\$Mft NTFS Master File Table


    and

    there are may processes like this one:

    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Scans\mpcache-8E3A95FB68F5E74F41E93DF6160C693FF730F8FE.bin.7E0


    are making my HD access at 50% it never goes higher than this, after about 15 minutes it subsides.


    I have turned off almost all the start up apps.


    Suggestions as to what is happening?

    The master file table's (MFT) BITMAP attribute is incorrect.

    CHKDSK C: reports the following:

    The master file table's (MFT) BITMAP attribute is incorrect.

    The Volume Bitmap is incorrect.

    Windows has checked the file system and found problems.

    Please run chkdsk /scan to find the problems and queue them for repair.

    After running CHKDSK C: /scan I ran CHKDSK C: again and got the same result as above.

    It seems CHKDSK cannot resolve the master file table's (MFT) BITMAP attribute error.

    How do I fix the MFT bitmap error?

    Master file table (MFT) usage at 100%

    Basically im worried that my MFT usage is listed at 100% in the post-defragmentation report after running:

    Defrag c: /v
