Windows 10: C:\Users\MyUsername\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\InetHelper

I have cleaner.exe file here which is detected by hitman pro 3, also 44 detects on virustotal. My ESET and malwarebytes doesnt detecting it.

I'd like to change C:\Users\(myoldusername)\AppData\Local to another folder (C:\Users\\AppData\Local). How do I proceed?

I changed my old username to . Now I want programs to use C:\Users\\AppData\Local instead of C:\Users\(myoldusername)\AppData\Local

It is the same location. Leave it be as it is. As long as you can navigate through your user account and run programs and system features, then all is well.

First, changing your user name is not such a good idea to begin with.

Some programs might have a problem running afterwards. And some other system functions could have issues.

You should just create a new user account and transfer your files and set that one up and delete the old account.

Also, some programs you installed, you might be the only one with access or can use it.

This is if you created a new user account. But more safe to do it this way

That is why in the start menu>>all apps,

there is actually 2 locations that is for the apps files.

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu

C:\Users\USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu

Obviously, you also can always go to

C:\Program Files

or

C:\Program Files (x86)

and run the EXE files for a program or app. And put shortcuts anywhere you want to.

Next, Here is an example for you

If you installed windows 10 and used your Microsoft account during the install,

And your email address was *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

And your real name was John Doe

Then your sign in screen name would show John Doe

But your User folder would be the first 5 Alpha-numeric of your email

so your user account folder would be >> bigbe

Now in file explorer, The addresses shown can show both.

Example:

One explorer window to a specific location might show

C:\Users\bigbe\Videos

It can also show C:\Users\John Doe\Videos

Then if you were to change to signing into your PC using a Local User Account instead of your Microsoft Account.

And you made the Local user account name John

then your sign in screen would show John

And your user account folder should still be C:\Users\bigbe

And locations as mentioned earlier could still also show bigbe

and now John
