C:\Video Location Unavailable, How do I restore access to my videos folder?

A couple of years ago, I added another drive to my pc. Along with this, I was transferring over my photos and my videos over to this new drive to relieve space on my main drive. However, in this process I somehow made it unavailable to access my videos from the Quick Access tab. However, my photos are completely fine and working. Is there a way I can fix this? Honestly, I had no idea how I did this with my video tab and not my photos tab. For some reason, it doesn't allow me to add screenshots in the description. Here's a google drive link of all the screenshots.

    :)

  2. Changed location of captured video

    Hi,

If you can no longer see the location option on the capture folder, you may restore your Game DVR Captures folder location settings. After restoring the game DVR Captures folder location settings, then you can change your Game DVR Captures folder location
again. To do this, you may follow the steps below:

How to restore Game DVR Captures folder location settings

    • Open File Explorer.
    • Browse to the Captures folder location.
    • Right-click the Captures folder and select Properties.
    • Click the Location tab.
    • Click the Restore Defaults button.
    • Click Apply.
    • Click Yes to recreate the folder in the old location.
    • Click Yes to move the content of the Captures folder to the old location, and wait a few moments.
    • Click OK.

Note: After you've completed the steps, the Captures folder will return with all its content to its default location: C:\Users\%username%\Videos\Captures.

After performing the steps above, try to change the location of your captured video.

Kindly update us with the results.

If you think this was helpful, do not hesitate to "mark it as answer" to help those who are facing the same problem.

  3. "Location is unavailable" for C: folder.

    Hi Jeff,

This error message usually appears when the hard drive files get damaged or corrupted.
Restoring folder's default location or recovering the data and formatting the disk would help diagnose and address this problem. Make sure to log in as the administrator. Follow the steps below:

    • To restore to default location.
    1. Go to C:\Users.

    2. Open the folder name with your user name.

    3. Right-click on the desktop and select Properties.

    4. Under the Location tab, click the Restore Default button.

    5. Once done, restart your PC.

    • Verify the permissions set on the file.
    1. Open File Explorer.

    2. Right-click the file folder and select Properties.

    3. Go to Security and select Advanced.

    4. Check the box for Replace all child object permission entries with permission entries from this object at bottom.

    5. Click Apply, then OK.

Once done, try accessing the folder again and let us know how it goes.

    Regards.

  4. C:\Video Location Unavailable, How do I restore access to my videos folder?

Changed the Video Folder Location to My User Folder

Hi, I made a stupid mistake and changed the location of my Videos folder and mapped it to C:\Users\MyUserName. This changed the content of the C:\Users folder instead of my username to "Videos". Inside the folder "Videos" (that was an empty folder) i see my Desktop, Favorites, Search, my Contacts and everything that supposed to be included in my user's file.

I think that functionally this still works and the video folder functions as my username folder and my video folder now but I find it incredibly annoying and really want to restore this to default. I am unable to though. The solution posted on many of these threads is: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials...t-location-personal-folders-windows-10-a.html

But that doesn't work. When I follow the directions I get a notification "Can't redirect a parent into a child. The specified path is invalid. I have also tried doing it where I don't try to move all of the files over as I attempt to restore the default but that gives this error message: "Can't move the folder because there is a folder in the same location that can't be redirected. Access is denied. I know when I initially made the mistake I stupidly clicked accept to the fact that Windows said I wouldn't be able to restore the default location of the Videos folder so am I just screwed? Is there anyway to fix this?

Thank you so much for your help. If there is a way to fix this I will be so, so, so happy. I think this is just an aesthetic problem but it really bothers me. Thank you!
