Windows 10: C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download deleting

    the folder is 20 gb i deleted it with razer cortex is it safe to delete its 20 gb

    Storage - Temporary files = C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download ?

    Will it clean the "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" folder ?

    Because I did a "Disk Cleanup" and I deleted "Windows Update Cleanup" files but there are still 5.02 GB in "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" folder.

    How can I stop my PC from booting up Windows?

    You can safely delete the contents in..

    C:\Windows\Temp
    C:\Users\<user name>\Local Settings\Temp or C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Temp
    C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download (safe to delete the whole folder) (files are needed if you ever want to uninstall a Windows update)

    I'm sure others can add to the list.

    Disk Cleanup will delete downloaded updates store within SoftwareDistribution folder.

    my computer wont let me delete files: I have tried everything under the sun. when I try to delete certain files i get "you require permission from SYSTEM to make changes to this file". Then i try to give my self all permissions need for the entire C drive and a receive "Failed to enumerate objects in container"....
