I tried doing it, but the last step sfc /scannow stopped at 48% and showed the following message

Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.

Also, another error was prompted on the screen which showed

Windows- Bad image

Hi

ive had an error start appearing on one of my 32 bit application that give a bad image error stating code 0xc000007b which seemed to appear after the insider update of last sunday around 14th May. I'm tearing my hair out here as the app in question (fast-help)
is what i use to author my chm help files which i cant currently use.

after a week of web searching and trying all the uninstalls/reinstalls etc etc i still cant fix it, and wanted to try the fix as described here:

which suggests manually downloading and overwriting dll's in the system32 & Syswow64 folders, but heres the rub... whenever i try copy the downloaded dll's to these folders i constantly get the message:

'the actiuon cant be completed because the folder or file is in use by another program'

ive tried safe mode and no joy, so can anyone suggest a way to sort this problem out please. re-installing windows is not really an option because of the huge number of applications i have as its my development machine, and i wouldnt be sure that the error
wouldnt re-appear again later anyway.
