Windows 10: Calculator for Windows 10

I was just upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 on my work PC. In 7 I pulled up the calculator using my calculator button on my keyboard. If I left it open and was working in another window, I could push the button on my keyboard and the calculator would pop to the front, ready for use. In Windows 10, it opens another iteration of the calculator.

Is there any way to change this to mimic the way Windows 7 handed it? Since it is a work PC, I do not have admin access, so ideas about installing additional software to circumvent this will not solve my issue.

I think this is a step in the right direction. I use Calculator daily.

 

Window's 10 Calculator won't launch

Hi Dan,

There could be a number of factors as to why you are having issues launching the Calculator app on Windows 10. This could be caused by a software conflict or due to the application itself.

You may consider resetting the Calculator app. To do this, refer to the steps below:

• Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & feature.
  
• Click the Calculator app from the list and then choose Advanced options.
  
• Click Reset.

If the issue persists, I suggest that you create a new user account. This is for us to check if the issue is due to a corrupted user profile. To do this, select the Start button, then select
Settings > Accounts > Family & other people > Add someone else to this PC.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
