Windows 10: Calendar app needs to be opened to sync

I have my windows calendar app set to sync with my google calendar. Whenever I add a new event to the calendar from google, it never appears in the calendar when you click the time in the taskbar unless I reopen the calendar app. Why is it not syncing automatically? The calendar when you click the time and the notifications for events are basically useless if they don't sync with new events without the app being open. Is there a way to fix this?

Mail app will not open on 10041.

Hello Adam,

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

 

calendar sync?

IT might be helpful if you describe the steps you're taking to try and sync the calendars. I'm not sure where eMail might come into the picture.

Also describe your goal as clearly as possible. you're trying to sync a calendar on the iPhone with the Calendar App on Win10, not a calendar in an eMail client?

ical seems to be the canonical calendar format for apple - not sure - just a guess.

You may want to disable any third party security software if installed and check the status. If the issue persists, I suggest you to try the steps listed below to sync calendar events across devices.

Disable and re-enable Calendar syncing:

• Search for the Calendar app from the Start menu and open it.
  
• Click on the Settings gear icon at the lower right corner on the left pane of the
  Calendar app.
  
• Click on Manage Accounts and choose the
  account to be synced.
  
• Choose Change Mailbox Sync settings and toggle
  off Calendar.
  
• Toggle On Calendar again, and save the changes.
  
• Exit Calendar app.
  

Note: It might take some time for the events to sync. Give it some time and let us know how it goes.
