Windows 10: Calendar Events Change to "Free" Automatically

Hello, I am having an issue with the Windows 10 calendar the one that comes already installed on the laptop and can't find anything about it online. When I create events, no matter what status I choose, the status always changes to "free". If I try to go into the event and edit it, the status changes back to "free" when I click save. How can I fix this? I am not free during meetings etc. and I don't want my calendar to say I am! This was never an issue in the past but has started out of nowhere within the last few days.

If the issue persists then, I suggest you to uninstall the apps which came inbuilt with Windows 10 using Windows PowerShell and reinstall using Windows Store. Follow the below steps.

• 
  Open the Start menu, type Windows PowerShell in
  the search bar.
  
• 
  Right click on the Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator.
  
• 
  Enter the below command to reinstall the Mail and Calendar app.
  

get-appxpackage *microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps* | remove-appxpackage


After performing the above steps, install the Mail and Calendar app form the Windows Store.

Calendar Sync Issue with Hotmail/Outlook

Fortunately (or unfortunately), this is working as designed. The calendars will automatically show up along with your contacts and email, and your phone will sync the following events (these settings can't be changed):

• Two weeks of past single-instance (non-recurring) events.
• All future single-instance events.
• All recurring events that have occurrences within the last two weeks or anytime in the future.

The task list on your phone will automatically sync with your Microsoft account or Outlook task list, depending on which account you use to create tasks.
