Windows 10: Calibration of Laptop Battery after Clean Installing Windows 10

I bought a laptop this week. I decided to install a clean copy of Windows to get rid of all the bloatware provided by my OEM i.e. Dell. Do I need to calibrate my battery after this change?


I remember I installed a custom ROM on my Android device. Then I had to calibrate my phone's battery after the installation process got over. In those devices, the status of the battery is stored in a Battery Stats file and calibration just updates the values in this file so that they are in sync with the actual capacity of the battery.

So, do I need to do calibration of my laptop battery after every clean install of Windows? Where is the information about battery status stored? Do I also need to do this if I plan to dual boot Windows and Fedora someday?

You might have to re-calibrate the battery, some times the option is in the bios, or an application in windows. another way is to talk the battery out of the laptop and leave it out 10-15 mins, this usually reset the the internal power manager.

Did quick search and found a few hits.

One HP forum suggested calibrating battery. This procedure may not be the one for your laptop so you could research the steps for your device. HP forums would likely be the best place as it is specific to HP. That said huge amount of knowledge and equipment on this forum. Maybe a new thread with the known issue could bring in answers.
