Windows 10: CallNtPowerInformation -> SystemPowerInformation -> TimeRemaining to put system to sleep is...

Hi,


Am using CallNtPowerInformation from powrprof.h in my application.

I use it to get SystemPowerInformation, which tells when to put system to low power state as per power plan settings.

This returns a value TimeRemaining which is kind of a counter which starts when there is no user activity idle system and resets on user activity. I put machine to low power state sleep mode when TimeRemaining is zero.


My problem is for some new devices, 'Dell 2-in-1 model with a detachable keyboard' this value TimeRemaining is decreasing even on user input when system is not idle. Coz of this behavior i put machine to low power state even when its in use.

Has something changed with this API. Should i use something else for the info i need.

Display will not sleep.

I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Click on Start>Settings>System.
• In the left navigation pane, click on Power & sleep.
• In the right pane, select the time limit for the system to go to sleep from the drop down list.

Sleep

This may happen due to its power plan. A power plan is a collection of hardware and system settings that manages how computers use and conserve power. For this, we suggest that you reset and restore power plans to its default. kindly follow these steps:

• Open the Command Prompt (Admin).
• Copy and paste the command below into the command prompt, and press
  Enter:
  • powercfg -restoredefaultschemes
• Close the Command Prompt window, and then restart your PC to apply the changes.

After that, go to Power & sleep settings
by typing it into the Windows Search. Check the When plugged in, PC goes to sleep after
settings is set to Never.

Win 10 - constantly shutting down into sleep mode every 64 minutes even when in active use!

• Did you check by setting sleep mode option to never?

If not, I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Navigate to Start>Settings>System>Power & sleep.
• In the right pane, select Never from the drop down list for
  Screen and Sleep.
• Close the dialog box and check for status.
