Windows 10: Camera App Not Recognizing Permission

My camera app keeps asking for permission to use the camera. Thing is, it already HAS permission. What gives?

If you have the camera connected to the computer, I would suggest that you disconnect the camera and then try to open the Camera app.



If the camera app opens, follow the steps below:

• Press “Windows key + C” from your keyboard to open “Charms bar”.
• Select “Settings” option.
• Select “Permissions” option.
• Turn on “Allow this app to access your: Webcam and Microphone” option.
• Lose the app by pressing “Alt key + F4” from your keyboard.
• Reopen the Camera app.
• Connect your camera and then check how this app works.

We appreciate the prompt response. The webcam working fine with other applications may indicate a software limitation if the concern is only happening on the affected app. To further isolate your concern, we suggest
that you change the default camera of your device as suggested on the previous post. To do this, here are the steps:

• Type Device Manager in the search box and press Enter.
• Click the drop-down arrow for Imaging devices.
• Right-click the built-in camera of your device and select Disable.

Once you're done, replicate the concern and check if the app recognize the third party camera as the default one.

On the other hand, if you encounter the same concern, you have the optionto get in touch with the developer of the app for further support or send them
feedback to consider this feature on their future updates.

You may also check out the camera privacy settings and see what apps are allowed to use the camera. Follow the steps below:

• Click the Windows key, then select Settings.
• Click Privacy, then select Camera.
• Check out the apps that are allowed to use the camera under Choose apps that can use your camera.
