Camera cutting out partway through use on any application

    Hi,

After countless unsuccessful attempts at raising this through our enterprise support, I'd like to see if anyone on the forums has any ideas.

I am currently seeing a problem with certain users within my organisation where their cameras will cut off after being used for a certain amount of time. The time they stay working seems to vary from user to user, but the individual I have been testing with mainly can stay in a video call for about 30 minutes at a time before the camera cuts off and his video feed is just a black screen. The only way to fix this is to restart the device completely.

While troubleshooting I noticed after experiencing the problem, the "Windows Camera Frame Server" service stopped working and could not be resumed without a reboot. I added a registry key to disable this service as perthis article. This worked to a degree and stopped the camera from going black but now whatever application is using the camera just crashes after the same amount of time instead. After the program crashes, a reboot is not needed and you can join back into the video call for another 30 minutes until it happens again.

Has anyone seen behaviour of this nature before? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Alex.

    :)

    Camera is green

    Hi GeorgiaPeach,

    Welcome to the forum!

You can try these steps and see if it will make any difference:

    • Power cycle
    1. Turn off the phone then remove the back cover and the battery.

    2. Reinsert the battery and the back cover then turn on your phone.

    • Reset your camera settings
    1. Go to Settings.

    2. Swipe to Application settings.

    3. Choose Photos+camera.

    4. Select Reset camera.

If the issue still persists, you can try to perform the steps provided on this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2749480. If the steps on the link will not work, I suggest that you
visit the nearest Nokia repair facility for it to be repaired. See this link: http://www.nokia.com/global/support/locations/ to check the repair facility near your area.

    Camera does not work.

To isolate your concern, we suggest that you uninstall the camera through Device Manager. To do this, follow the steps below:

    • In the Search box, type Device
      Manager
      and press Enter.
    • Navigate to Imaging devices.
    • Expand the Imaging devices tree by clicking on the adjacent arrow.
    • Look for your device, right-click then select Properties.
    • Click on the Driver tab, then choose Uninstall button.

Let the system restarts to complete the process. Take note that the camera may not work if there are other applications which are still open that uses the same device, we suggest that after uninstalling the device you can proceed with launching the application
to check if the issue persists.

Give us an update with the outcome.

Thanks for updating us on the results of the troubleshooting steps that you have completed. Since the built-in webcam is still not working correctly and the same error code 0xA00F4244 (0xC00DABED) is still appearing, we suggest that we check the camera privacy
settings to see if the camera access is turned on. Kindly follow the steps below to check the camera privacy settings:

    • Press the Windows key + I to open the Settings app.
    • Near the top of the Settings app window is the search box, kindly type the word "webcam" or "camera".
    • From the list of results choose Camera privacy settings.
    • Make sure that "Let apps use my camera" toggle is set to On.

We look forward to your response once you complete the steps.
