Windows 10: Camera not found/replaced by one that displays a twitch icon

Recently, I have not been able to use apps that require a webcam, and while initially, it simply said that the camera could not be found/was being used by another app, now the integrated camera seems to have disappeared completely and the only one left is something called "twitch virtual cam" which, when used, only shows a grey background with twitch icons and one in the middle with a camera icon slashed out screenshot of what it looks like on Ome.tv for example. I uninstalled twitch but its still there, and still the only one I can use. I wouldn't care but it doesn't actually work as a we

Hi Snugg, I'm Graeme, an independent adviser here to help.

It's possible there's a script running at Startup from the old Twitch installation, so try this:

- Right-click the taskbar and choose Task Manager, or press Control+Shift+Escape.

- Click More Details

- Under the Startup tab, see if there's any Twitch related startup tasks.

- Disable it if it's there, then reboot and see if the problem is still there.

Otherwise, see if Twitch has installed a service that you can disable:

- Click Start and search for "services.msc"

- Select the first result, and look in the Services list for anything related to Twitch.

- Try right-clicking and disabling any Twitch services you find, then reboot and see if the problem persists.

download Windows camera app

Success in resetting Store; that produced a download of the Windows camera, despite seeing error message again, download proceeded. Screen shows MS app for Windows camera and indicates downloaded. (Camera now listed in app list.) But when Launch was selected,
no action after screen with camera icon. Eventually message appeared " something went wrong: here is message code if needed: 0x400F4271>MediaCaptureFailedEvent>0xC00D3704. We seem to be moving ahead a step at a time. Next suggestion?

 

Display was not migrated

Hi,

I understand the above solution didnt work so as to next step in solving your issue I suggest you follow the below.

Step 1:

Go to search box next to Windows icon and type Device Manager

Step 2:

Under Device Manager expand Display Adapter

Step 3:

Right-click on Adapters listed one by one and select Properties

Step 4:

Select the Drivers tab

Step 5:

Click on Uninstall Device

Step 6:

Repeat step 3 to 5 for all listed adapters under Display Adapter

Step 7:

Restart PC and verify

Let me know the status after performing the above.
