Windows 10: Camera not working in Windows 10 Lenovo Ideapad - Solved

People all over the internet are asking Windows why their cameras aren't working. Here are two simple answers.

I bought a Lenovo idea pad recently and everything worked fine. When I first used the camera there was a problem but I had forgotten that there was a little privacy switch next to the camera light that you can slot across. Whew!

Then I had another problem. I bought a visualiser and the camera defaulted to the visualiser and then it stopped working. I thought the camera was caused by the visualiser. I did get some sort of error message "your camera is being used by another app" I followed all the advice on lots of sites such as fiddling in Devices and enabling apps and checking security settings and whatnot. I deleted the USB camera option.

However since then I have discovered that there is also a camera disable function key on the keyboard. When I tapped that key together with the Fn key, or some such combo, control and alt? I tried 'em all the camera worked. It took me two weeks to discover this key. I was both quite annoyed and greatly relieved. But in fact therefore it was not actually a Windows problem at all.

Lenovo Y510P (Unsupported for Win 10) Camera Driver Needed


Hello and welcome ksuthayya have had a look for a driver for your machine but there are only drivers listed up to 8.1 not 10.

Having said that my old Toshiba was in the same position and yet when I installed 10 Windows updates found drivers for stuff not listed on the Toshiba site.

Now a suggestion would be to get a clip on camera and install it via USB or like wise because it would have it owns driver. If my memory serves me right they are not that expensive - but still annoying eh?.

We have a Lenovo ideapad Flex 4 and have just figured out the camera isn't working - isn't listed in the devices, but I can see we have a camera above the screen. How can i activate it?

Follow these steps:

The first solution for the Lenovo webcam not working is Lenovo's own app. Press the F8 key on your laptop keyboard. This is the key to enable or disable Lenovo EasyCamera. If that doesn't work, move on to the next solution.

Type new in the Windows search box and select Lenovo Settings.

Select Camera and scroll to Privacy Mode.

Activate and deactivate privacy mode.

Try your camera again.
