Windows 10: Camera still not working and blank although the camera switch has light on

This morning when I was in a Zoom meeting when I wanted to turn on the camera, suddenly my camera could not turn on blank even though the camera switch and camera light were still on. When I opened the camera application, the image was blank and an error appeared like in the screenshots I was taking. Even this afternoon I had to use 'Get Help' to troubleshoot the camera but the results were unsuccessful, after that I immediately contacted Microsoft Support to solve the camera problem and the results were still unsuccessful, so I restarted the laptop, disabled the camera, until the troublesho

Microsoft Surface Book 2 camera showing blank in MS Teams

Hope I've posted this in the right forum.

I have a Corporate user who is using a Microsoft Surface Book 2, and he's experiencing issue activating the built-in camera when using TEAMS only. Both the front and rear facing camera shows a blank black image. The light next to the front facing camera does light up thou.

The native MS camera app works fine and shows the video correctly suggesting that it's not a hardware fault.

And here comes the strange part - If I undock the screen from the keyboard and start Teams again the camera works and it will continue to work once I dock it back into the keyboard. However the problem returns if I quit Teams or restart the machine....which is a nuisance to perform this workaround everytime it reboots.

He had this same issue couple of months back, but somewhere it started working for some unknown reason....until the problem returns...

As mentioned since it's a corp device it is unfortunately stuck on Win10 build 1709 (for now), and he is the only person that has the device in the business and nobody else.....

Any suggestion or idea of how to resolve this is greatly appreciated. Thanks

idgat: The camera works on other apps including live streaming to YouTube, so I'm guessing not.

Anibor: the driver reset did nothing.

Also, I've notice that, while trying to setup the camera on Zoom, the camera light is active. So something is working.

If you have the camera connected to the computer, I would suggest that you disconnect the camera and then try to open the Camera app.



If the camera app opens, follow the steps below:

• Press “Windows key + C” from your keyboard to open “Charms bar”.
• Select “Settings” option.
• Select “Permissions” option.
• Turn on “Allow this app to access your: Webcam and Microphone” option.
• Lose the app by pressing “Alt key + F4” from your keyboard.
• Reopen the Camera app.
• Connect your camera and then check how this app works.
