  1. Can a virus affect my shared Microsoft account?

I opened up an old laptop of mine, and apparently my it has a Trojan virus, and the laptop with the virus is using the same Microsoft account as my pc. Is there a way this virus can affect my pc, or can I just shut off my laptop and pretend nothing ever happened?

  2. Cannot access shared network drive

I could scream! so much time wasted on this stupid error, as if time is not precious enough!
It probably would work fine if I could see the other computer! But I cannot see the other computer!

  3. Shared Microsoft Account affecting Outlook???

    Hi Jeff and StephanieMcCrary,

Off the top of my head, I'm thinking that the Live Tile might have been accidentally deleted OR you might have renamed that account.

To be sure, go to Settings > email+accounts and see if it is listed there. If it is, tap on it and you'll see "Account name" at the top. This should be the name of the Live Tile and also the name it is listed under in the App List.

If you still cannot find the Live Tile for it, from your Start screen, swipe right to your App list and see if you can find it based on the name you found in the above steps. For instance, I have my main account titled "Live" and if I look in my app list,
I can see "Live" listed next to an Outlook icon. If you tap and hold the icon, you should have a choice to "pin to start." If it is greyed out, then it is already on your Start screen somewhere (maybe inside a folder?).

    I hope this helps!

Can a virus affect my shared Microsoft account?

    Cannot access shared network drive

Personally, I wouldnt use Everyone. If anyone hacks into you, they have full access to everything and can demolish everything on your raid. I would rather set up accounts and access separately for each person. That way, I know who did all that damage. In the end with a little extra work, I feel more secure by using Authenticated Users.

    If this helps.
step 1 create non-microsoft account and without email and address without admin rights
step 2 share a drive or folder to specific user account (if Everyone is listed, remove it)
step 3 set security > add Authenticated Users (if more than 1 account) or add specific users
step 3a remove Everyone from list
step 3b uncheck full control and write for all items listed except SYSTEM and Admin account.
step 4 right click Start > Computer Management > System Tools > Shared Folders > Shares ... to verify settings and change anything else. You can also see the number of connections to each share here.
