Can anyone use USB attached SCSI in 10?

Is anyone using a UAS device successfully on 9926? I have a Iomega eGo USB 3 1TB drive which connects through USB Attached SCSI when running 9926 on 2012 Macbook Pro hardware. The drive is fine (works through USB2 on Thinkpad) and the Macbook is fine (the same drive works using UAS under OSX).

When running 9926 I have the following problems (although reading from the disk works fine *Smile)
    • Format through disk management and delete through File explorer fails crashing explorer and forcing hard power off.
    • Format through diskpart fails with spurious error message.
    • Format through mini partition wizard hangs.
    • Write by copying through File explorer works (for a bit - I can create an empty folder and managed to copy one episode of a series of a TV show). Then explorer crashes and have to hard power off.
    • Drive can not be seen at all through easeus or recuvva (tried when I thought drive might be an issue).
I've reported it through insider program but as most reports are only as detailed as the words "USB 3 doesn't work" I thought I'd have more luck here...

I'd be really interested if anyone can run UAS external USB 3 drives on 10 and if so what drivers you have. Mine are all 10.0.9926.0 fbl_awesome1501.150119-1648. If it does work for you could you let me know what drivers you have (Right click on drive, Properties, Hardware tab, Properties, Driver tab, Driver Details). I have these currently:

    Attachment 12959

    Attachment 12958

    Thanks

(this is a spin-off of my misleadingly titled thread Can't format external USB drive.)

    :)

how to change "USB attached SCSI mass storage device" to "USB mass storage device"

    Hi there:

I have a Seagate USB portable drive and I mainly use it to connect to my ASUS Oplay! media player to watch the content on TV.

This device use to be an USB mass storage device.

Recently, I noticed whenever I eject my seagte portable drive, the device is showing as ""USB attached SCSI mass storage device" instead of a regular "USB mass storage device". This is when my media player stopped recognising the portable drive (showing
the device is not supported). The portable drive works fine on my Windows 10 PC, just not recognising by my media player anymore.

Wondering if anyone can point out how I can restore my portable hard drive back to a generic USB mass storage device instead of being a "USB attached SCSI mass storage device".

    Thank you.

USB Attached SCSI Mass Storage Device, Code: 19

    Hi,

Does this happen after a Restart, a Shutdown, or both...

Or does just ejecting\unplugging the device cause it ?

Can anyone use USB attached SCSI in 10?

    I have a similar issue.
    iomega Prestige 1TB external drive.

USB 2.0 ports working reading/writing mode.
USB 3.0 ports working only reading mode.

On my old Windows 8.1 I managed to fix the issue using a workaround, by downgrading the eXtensible controller driver to Windows 7 one, as written here on plugable.com

On Windows 10, the fix doesn't work.
When you try to change the usb root driver it basically screws up all the USB ports and your only safety is a restore point, or you must reinstall Windows 10.

Not even upgrading iomega USB 3.0 firmware helps.

The fault is all on Microsoft side, but are they willing to help?
I wrote on their forum as well, but apart from writing you the usual dumb answers about deleting the drivers and let Windows to pick up the same drivers again.. they don't say much.
On Lenovo (ex-iomega) forum I posted the workaround for Win 8.1, so you can imagine how much helpful they were..

I guess we are many with this issue using USB 3.0 ports. Why Microsoft can't help?
Intel stopped working on such drivers since now Microsoft does it....
