Windows 10: Can APKs Harm My PC?

I use this Android emulator called BlueStacks and I sometimes use APKs because they are more convenient than going to the Play Store, which sometimes crashes. I wasn't sure which APKs were official or not and I don't want malware onto my PC so are APKs malware on PC?

• Are you running a game and restarting your system?
• What do you mean when you state "desktop gaming pc running windows 10 64 bit "?

I would like to inform that restarting your computer will not do any harm to your PC. But if there are any games or apps running in the background, I would suggest that you close all the running programs and then restart.

Data files (which is what an APK file is to a Windows system), take their display icon from the program that they are set to open with - this may be changed by right clicking,(or sometimes you will need to use Shift-Click), on an APK file and selecting "Open With ...", and selecting a suitable application

Hi hope you can advice me on this problem I have on my windows 10 laptop.I downloaded a apk file for my phone and the apk icon shows up as notebook icon on my desktop is the anyway I can change it to the correct file/icon pls help.....
