  1. Can "Changing where content is saved" under storage settings take over a secondary HDD in...

I had a secondary HDD where I literally just kept a downloads and Games folder (for game files and installation of games that dont really care about being on SSD).

After tweaking around with these settings:

I realised it created some folders including ProgramFiles, WindowsApps, etc. which is not surprising or really unexpected after changing that setting. The problem is it seems to have straight up deleted my Games and Downloads folders. This persists even after reverting back, and in fact after reverting back I still cannot delete the ProgramFiles+WindowsApps folders.

Is this some sort of bug or expected behavior?

    change where content is saved

I have windows 10 and the application is on: Settings-System-Storage and under More Storage Settings there is the option "change where content is saved" and when I select this option to change my user folders like Downloads, Documents I don't see the new
hard drive that under "this pc" I see it listed as drive D:

  3. Change where new content is saved.

    Hello Martin,

We apologize for the late reply.

Windows 10 lets you easily change the default Save location for Documents, Music, Picture and Video files. For steps on how to organize your preferred setting, follow these steps:

    • Open Start Menu.
    • Click Settings, then System settings.
    • Click on Storage in the left pane.
    • Scroll down a bit and find Save locations.
    • There you will see New documents will save to setting and similar settings for Music, Pictures & Videos.
    • Select the location from the drop-down menu.

For Windows 10 Creators Update v1703, you need to navigate as follows:

    Settings > System > Storage
    > Change where new content is saved.

Tip: If you are suffering from the low space issues after upgrading, you can use these technique to move Documents and other personal folders from the default system drive to another drive.

Feel free to post back if further assistance is needed.

Can "Changing where content is saved" under storage settings take over a secondary HDD in...

    Utililizing secondary drive as storage

I recently got a new computer, and decided to switch back from Apple to Windows for the first time in a decade or so, as such I'm floundering a bit and need some help.

Following advice online I went ahead and bought a new SSD and replaced the HDD in my new laptop, and then using a CD caddy placed my HDD in the optical drive slot in order to use it as a secondary storage drive. I did an install of Windows 10 onto the SSD
using the creation tool and a USB drive, and then installed all the updates and drivers for everything. The issue is that I can't seem to access the HDD through file explorer or set it as a save location in the storage section of system settings. It is listed
under disk drives in the device manager, and the status there claims it to be working properly. It's just functionally useless at this point. Any help would be appreciated.
