Can I boot and run Windows 10 from SSD connected to USB port that was internally connected...

Hello,my laptop Lenovo T570 was delivered with pre-installed Windows 10 on NVMe SSD device. However due to this hardware failure NVMe interface adapter on mainboard is broken I cannot find this device in BIOS anymore and as a result Windows is unavailable. My idea is now to put the NVMe SSD device into an external case and connect this to a USB 3 port. However, Windows 10 is not booting in this setup, instead I'm caught in the boot-repair-loop.I have verified with sfc and chkdsk that this NVMe SSD device is working correctly, and I can boot Windows 10 w/o problems when putting this NVMe SSD

    :)

Is an external SSD connected to the USB port (much) slower than an int

You are limited by two things, the speed of your USB port and the speed of the SSD. For a SATA SSD and a USB3 port there's little difference.

For an NVMe SSD it will be much faster as an internal drive and limited to USB3 speeds as an external drive.
