    Can I change from use as usb to use as cd/dvd?


    Hi, I inserted a cd into my laptop, and then it said "use as usb or use as cd", I clicked on use as usb thinking that I could only copy the contents of the disk if I chose as usb, but now I think I may have formated the cd, and was wondering what to do. Are the files deleted? If not where can I find them, if they are can I recovery them.

    New DVD/CD - Not Running

    First check the bios ,see if it it is listed as a startup device.
    if not then the mainboard is not recognizing it and you Should check the cables and connections.
    Forget devices, open the Device Manager and see if it is there, check properties
    un check "turn off this device to save power" (just for now)
    also check for any errors.
    second step if all appears good is to delete the dvd in the Device Manager with the drivers.
    reboot and see if it shows.

    DVD/CD Drive Saying CD-Rom

    My Dvd drive is listed in my device manager however it is set as cd rom in the description, it also wont open and is not set as my default drive, any suggestions?

    windows 10 if that changes anything
