Windows 10: Can I change the shadow around my windows?

I have a hard time distinguishing between different open windows on my desktop.

The classic windows had a more 3D looks and I didn't have this problem.


Is there a setting to make the borders between windows more distinguishable?

• Were you able to get this shadows just after upgrade to Windows 10? If yes, were there any significant software or hardware changes made after that?

Drop shadow is a visual effect consisting of drawing that looks like the shadow of an object, giving the impression that the object is raised above the objects behind it.

Method 1:

If you have not tried the following steps you may check if it helps.

• • Open Control Panel and click System and security.
  
  • Click on system.
  
  • Click on Advanced system settings.
  
  • Go to Advanced Tab.
  
  • Select performance.
  
  • Click settings.
  
  • Check “Show shadows under windows” and click OK.

Method 2:

If the above method does not help, I would suggest you to try different background themes and check if it helps.

You may face this issue if you have made changes in performance settings.
I would suggest you to follow these steps and check if it helps:

• Press Windows key +X.
• Click on System.
• Now click Advance System Settings.
• Under Performance click Settings.
• Now uncheck use Drop Shadows For Icon Labels On The Desktop.
