Windows 10: Can i change videocard in win10 without having to reactivate license?

Can i change videocard in win10 without having to reactivate license? Some people say i wont lose my license and some people say i might. I would like to have a real answer so i can prepare myself what i have to do when i start changin my GPU

Chipset Driver Problem

I don't know if my videocard is older than HD 3000, because it shows as "Intel(r) HD Graphics", without any numbers.

And, BTW, about a half of my games are working with this, another half don't want to. I have a guess, that it depends on OpenGL support of videocard.

Forgot to tell the most important thing: they all were working before I installed Win10. I had Win7 Home, and it all was working great.

So, I've contacted MS for an official response, and I was advised with the sure process to reinstall my previous version of Windows (Win7), update it and look for the Win10 upgrade app again. If I have trouble receiving the Upgrade App, I was advised to
make contact again.

I accept this, and understand that perhaps the process of upgrading to Win10, then changing your mobo and CPU, and trying to upgrade/reactivate Win10 again hasn't been tried or tested by many people yet.

I don't mind being a guinea pig, and just out of my own curiosity, I'm going to try various options before performing a clean Win7 install.

But the bottom line for most technical users is, after the free upgrade year is up, and you change you mobo and/or CPU in the future, you won't be able to activate and use Win10 without purchasing it. But I kinda understood this, and always budgeted for
Win10 if I have to buy it one day.

If I discover another sucessful method to reactivate Win10 without having to clean install Win7, I'll be sure to mention it.

 

You'd lose activation if you replace the Mother Board. Any other device(s) will be fine.

 

Yes graphics cards do not affect the license.

 

You're fine when you replace anything but your motherboard. Then you have to purchase a new copy of Windows or call their support and tell then you replaced your motherboard and not to charge you for a new license

So replace your video card, cpu, cpu cooler, ram, disk drive (well kinda) or video card cooler (if you managed to watercool it *Tongue)

 

Not any longer. The Anniversary Update of Windows 10 attaches the digital license for Windows 10 to your Microsoft Account and allows the transfer of the license via the Microsoft Account to a different computer.
