Windows 10: Can I change window 10 pro volume license key to oem

Recently I got the message the volume license key will be expired soon. Would I update the license key to oem version without a clean install of win 10 pro?

"Flavors" of Windows licenses

Windows can be a little "odd" about license keys. There are at least 4 categories:

• Retail
• OEM
• Volume (electronic download)
• Corporate (no key needed)

For guaranteed success, the license key and media should be in the same category. If you have retail media, you may not be able to install it using an OEM or Volume license key, even though the key is valid for that version of Windows. *Wtf :wtf: Apparently, this is part of Microsoft's anti-piracy scheme (i.e., all customers are guilty until proven innocent).

 

Windows 10 Pro Volume License installed on my previously Windows 8.1 Pro OEM computer

The hard disk drive of my computer installed with Windows 8.1 Pro OEM License broke down and had to be replaced with a new one. After I got my computer back, I was surprised the operating system is now Windows 10 Pro Volume License. Can I change the product
key to the original Windows 8.1 Pro OEM License? If Yes, is my computer going to revert to 8.1 Pro OEM License or stay on 10 Pro (but not anymore on Volume License)? Thanks in advance.

 

Can an OEM license key for Win 10 Pro be changed to a Campus Volume license key for Win 10 Pro for mass imaging?

I think there is a misunderstanding of how imaging works. Reimaging rights are based on the machine being properly licensed to allow the volume license upgrade to be installed. The machines don't have to be upgraded with a volume license key, if they are
already licensed with the proper premium business sku (in your case Windows 10 Pro OEM). What you should be doing is have your Volume License reference deployment image with the key already embedded and whatever software you want to deploy, then reimage the
machine using something like deployment kit.
