Windows 10: Can I connect both a PS2 and a USB mouse for testing?

I was having trouble with my Win10 computer's USB mouse, and I wanted to plug it into another computer to test if it was a hardware issue it was or a software issue.Unfortunately, the other desktops I have are old and use PS/2 mice. Also it's kinda a PITA to swap the mice on the back of the computers.Since USB is hot swappable and one of the computers has a couple of USB ports on the front, could I have just plugged the mouse into the USB port on the front of the Win7 computer without disconnecting the PS/2 mouse just to see if the USB mouse's scroll wheel was broken, or would the PS/2 mouse

PS2 connections stopped working

My PC is running on W10 and has been serviced using USB keyboard and mouse. Since then my PS2 connections are not working anymore. I have already tried some suggestions posted here but nothing works so far.... How can I fix this?

 

Ps2 mouse is not working

Hello! I am facing a problem with my ps2 mouse.

I generally using my ps2 mouse since 7-8 years.I recently upgraded my windows 7 to windows 10 in 2020.

After upgrading the system , I can able to use my ps2 mouse on that.I am bored with my ps2 mouse and purchased a new usb mouse and just working with it from 2-3 months.

But I wanted to use both usb and ps2 mouse on single pc to do many stuff by using two mouse.After plugging the both mouses on single system,my ps2 mouse not working and even not detected in device manager.But when I purchased usb mouse, both are working.I
don't know why after 2-3 months my ps2 mouse is not working.I saw many tutorials on YouTube to solve my problem.Only thing i got there is to change i8042prt.sys start value from 3 to 0 in regedit. I never tried it because, I feared about the BSOD(blue screen
of death) issue.I wanted to know that by changing registry value will not arise the BSOD error and tell me that this will harm my system and will it work or not.

I also searched about the i8042prt.sys.I got that when we make a replacement of ps2 mouse with usb it generally forcibly disable the i8042prt driver.I don't know this is true or not but tell me is it true or not.

Please resolve my problem.

My name is Mohammed Shuaib, an Independent Advisor and I'm here to assist you with the issues of the PS2 mouse not detecting. Please follow the below to fix the issue.

Fix #1:Before following the below make sure the PS2 mouse is connected.

Step 1:

Go to search box next to Windows icon and type CMD

Step 2:

Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run As Administrator

Step 3:

Type msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic and press enter.

Step 4:

Click Next on the Hardware troubleshooter wizard.

Step 5:

Restart PC

Let me know the status after performing the above.
