Windows 10: can I delete ctg codec files

I kept getting error messages when trying to view photos I took with my canon camera. All files had codec ctg. It appears that these aren't meant to be opened, so I would think its okay to delete them.

However i'm a little confused because I also read that these files have a related, viewable, image file. So is it okay to delete, or will that affect the related photo's files?

FWIW, *.ctg files are not image files. They are "catalog" files used by Canon cameras and not intended to be viewed or opened by users. See, e.g.,

Much smaller files. All the codecs they list are "lossy", including Vorbis.
