  1. Can I delete Win 10 and install 7?

Hopefully I am asking this in the correct area.

So, my laptop came with Windows 10 installed.
    Then the creators update happened...

System ran like pure garbage, had to do 2 factory resets to get it back to how it was running brand new.

What I would like to know is can I just buy a copy of Windows 7 and install it (formatting partition etc).

To me it seems like it is a simple yes answer, but I wanted to consult with people here that know more than I do before I spend any money.

    :)

  3. delete win 10 and install win 8

You will have to check with your computer Maker to see if they have drivers for Windows 8.1, if so you can install 8.1; if not you have a problem and Windows 8.1 may not run if you if you install it. If drivers are available and you have a legit copy of
8.1 just install it over Windows 10 and your in business. You can't just delete Windows 10.

Hope this helps and if you need any further assistance post and we will be glad to help you.

  4. Can I delete Win 10 and install 7?

As I have been reading further around...

If I upgrade to Win 10 Pro is it very difficult to 'revert' to Windows 7?

  5. While the downgrade may work, you will probably have driver issues at the very least. Bear in mind that Asus has some of the very worst customer support in the industry and help from them will be virtually nonexistent. (The main reason I stopped using their machines even though I love their power)

Have you tried working through the problems/issues you say you experienced with the C.U.? We have many excellent tutorials here at the forums, here's one (among many) that may help with that :

I think Win7 would be OK with an I7-6700. (Microsoft cut Win7 support on some newer CPUs, but I have the impression that one isn't on the list.) Whether you can get the rest of the drivers to make the laptop work, I can't guess, particularly as you haven't specified the exact model.

Post #2 seems like a non sequitur. What are you thinking? Do you have Home, and hope that Pro will run better? That seems unlikely.

Before mucking around with 7, I'd try a clean install of 10.

  7. I will give that link a read over, thank you *Smile

Another thread and website I read tells me that if I have a copy of Windows 10 Pro (as opposed to Home that I have now) that there are options to roll it back to Windows 7 easily

You can always backup your Windows 10 with Macrium Reflect and then try it. You will have to call MS but it is a painless procedure.

That is ONLY if the computer came with PRO from the factory. And it is not as easy as it sounds/looks.

Right, and that article only talks about activating Windows 7. You would have to get Windows 7 installed and actually working first!

  11. Downgrade Rights only apply if the PC was sold with 10 Pro, and sold with "Downgrade rights" as an option. Not all OEM's offer downgrade rights, and just having Pro doesn't automatically entitle you to those rights.

Upgrades from one build to another often have glitches. In my experience anyway. Instead of doing the factory reset (back to an older build). Consider clean installing the latest build. You'll lose some of the factory software (some would call it bloat *Wink ) Shouldn't be all that hard to get it back if you really need it. Ditto to ASUS tech support sucking big time. I'm still happy with my ASUS laptop though, as I'm my tech support. I ditched the factory install long ago for a clean install with only what I want on it. All my hardware works just fine with the Windows update supplied drivers.

Being shipped from the factory with Windows 10 pre installed, it should have the Windows 10 Product code embedded in the BIOS. Current install media will read an use it automatically and install the correct matching Edition (10 Home) automatically. It will already have a Digital License anyway so activation "should be" automatic. Backup what files etc you don't want to lose to external media beforehand.

  12. If you had windows 7 home the upgrade path to Windows 10 would be Windows 10 Home. So why could one NOT go back to Windows 7 Home? What if it was not an OEM build?

Can I delete Win 10 and install 7?

Since your computer came from the factory with Windows 10 pre-installed and it never had Windows 7 ever running on it, the simple answer is no because your computer is probably not set up to run to Windows 7. There are probably not drivers available for your PC to run Windows 7.

If you do not like Windows 10 Home then do not pay to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro.

  15. If you upgraded from 7 Home to 10 Home, you can rollback to 7 Home, within a certain time limit. Once the windows old folder is gone you would have to clean install 7 Home to go back.

The OP's PC came with 10 Home installed, it was never upgraded from 7 Home. In that case, you need to be sure that PC will run Windows 7, IE can you get Windows 7 drivers for the newer hardware etc. Plus, you need to buy a license to run Windows 7 on that PC. Your not going "back to" as it was never installed in the first place.
