  2. Disable People app sounds

    Hi David,

You may turn off system or app notifications sounds through the Sound
dialog or the Settings app. Here's how:

    Through the Sound dialog:

    • Right-click on the Speakers icon at the lower right corner of Windows 10 desktop and then select
      Sounds.
    • Select the Sounds tab.
    • To turn off all system and app notifications sounds, click on the drop-down button under
Sound Scheme, and then select No Sounds. If you just want to turn off the notifications sounds of certain apps, select
Notification from the list under Programs Events, click on the drop-down button under
Sounds, and select None from the menu.
    • Click Apply.

    Through the Settings app:

    • Click on the Start button and select Settings.
    • Select System.
    • Select Notifications & actions.
    • Locate the Notifications section. You can turn off all app notifications by toggling the switch under
Show app notifications to Off , so that it will neither show notifications nor play sounds when app events happen. To turn off the notifications sounds of certain apps, click on the app name, then toggle the switch under
Play a sound when a notification arrives to Off.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

    Sound Quality

One thing that sticks out from looking at your "My Computer" specs. You list "ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)" which suggests you do not have the correct sound hardware driver. Your motherboard has Realtek sound and the first step is to install the Realtek sound drivers. My ASUS also came with Sonic Studio 2 which is a sound enhancement package. Check the ASUS install disc to see if you have something similar.

May not be a speaker problem.

Installing Sound Card - need to disable onboard in BIOS?

Nope, it either disables it automatically or you have 2 sound cards installed.

Besides that you could try to use a decent topic title as suggested in the guidelines.
