This is much an Opinion as it is a Question. I due to a very serious illness purchased my first PC in almost a decade on 04/19. When I first purchased it Microsoft made things much easier for just about everything. For the Windows Updates, for instance, all I had to do was go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates I believe, right now it reads "Resume Updates" because of the way Microsoft ruined the whole easy Update experience. I wish to ask, most importantly: Is there any way, I mean anyway I can disable the "7 Day Pause" in Windows Updates? I'd

Pause Updates For 7 Days ?????

    Windows 10 Pro v. 2004

I have been investigating my new install of windows and have noticed in the Updates area ….
Pause Updates for 7 more days …

I tried to go into the advanced options area to change it but am faced with a list of dates on menu and regardless of what I choose the phrase Pause Updates for 7 more days … persists.

What is up with that ?

    Pause updates for 7 Days

I just discovered something I don’t quite understand. If I go to the WU settings page and use the Pause Updates for 7 days button, the pause date will indeed advance 7 days. If you then go to the Advanced Options page you can further advance the pause date for five more days. Return to the WU page and you can advance that date by another 7 days. It seems that you can cycle through this sequence for quite some time. Right now, my system is paused until 08/16/2020. I thought there was a 35 day limit on pausing updates on Home systems.
Or, you can just keep pausing for 7 days repeatedly until you have reached a date comfortable for you. Apologies, I always just assumed you only had one shot at the pause days.

option: pause update windows update for 7 days'

Since an update from windows 10 v. 1803 to 1909 I note the above option listed in update settings page. Why is a pause necessary? One moment the information on update status shows the updates are all installed yet another moment it shows that updates
are on 'pause'. I did not add this option to updates. I am unsure how long the 'pause updates' option has been listed on the update settings page. Shall I leave it set at 7 days' pause or remove that option?
