Windows 10: Can I eliminate the duplicate right-hand list of Quick Access items in the Windows 11 File...

Hello. I cannot seem to find an answer to what looks like a pretty basic problem with File Explorer functionality in Windows 11. See a screenshot, below. I use folders pinned to Quick Access in File Explorer's left-hand navigation pane as a principal way of navigating to my file folders. I ALSO find the Favorites and Recent files lists on the File Explorer Home panel to be useful... so I have File Explorer set to open to Home. What I do NOT find useful is the Quick Access section at the top of the Home panel, which is just a much bigger, clunky duplicate of the pinned items already efficiently

Remove items from Quick access.

I would suggest you to follow the below steps.

• Right click on the file or folder.
• Select the option “unpin from the quick access”

To pin items to an item already on the quick access bar.

Follow the below steps.

I would suggest you to create folder in the desktop screen & place all the files or folder which need to pin to the quick access.

• Open the quick access.
• Select the Desktop option.
• Right click on the folder & select the option “pin to quick access”

Arranging items in Quick Access

Over the weekend, catalogued some illustrations on my Mac, which is still running OS Big Sur and not OS Sonoma*,
And found it still easier to do this on my Windows 11 PC, due to the limited choices Mac's Finder offers in displaying directories.

In Windows 11, can still view files in a detailed list --and see a preview of graphics file IF I choose to do so.

On the Mac, my choices are view by detailed list, view by column, or view by icon, and it's hard to sort items in Icon view.

So will add three things to the Suggested Features box for Windows 11:

1. The ability to sort folders pinned as Quick Items in Home by name, type, or other characteristic; instead of automatically dumping the latest pinned addition to Quick Items at the bottom of the list.
   
2. Ability to either customize the Quick Access Toolbar in Windows Explorer, or at least adding the "Show Preview" button to that list.
   
3. Having "Date Modified" automatically shown in Details instead of "Date."
   

*Not switching yet, due to numerous reported security issues with Sonoma.

 

Recent items not showing in quick access or start list


Hi there,

I've only just upgraded to windows 10, so still getting to grips. I have the recent items option enabled in both the quick access panel and jump lists, but they're appearing in neither. Does anyone have any suggestions?
