Windows 10: Can I factory reset my windows laptop without losing my window's key?

I got this Asus laptop 4 months ago as a gift. It already has windows installed and I don't have or know the license key. Sadly i have to sell this for financial reasons and I'm trying to delete all my data and factory reset it. The problem is I have no idea how to do so without losing the windows license.

Going to the recovery option says that i could either use cloud or local device to reinstall windows which I don't have. It it possible to format this?

Factory Reset Win 7 (without disc)

Download an ISO of the Avira AV boot CD, burn it on your own computer, and then boot from that CD on your mom's computer and run a cleanup.

Seriously, you should just download a Windows disc and format the laptop. Best and easiest course of action.

If you are incapable, or uncomfortable with following any of the recommendations on how to restore the laptop, then I recommend you take it to your local IT guy and ask him to do it for you. Sometimes the best of us have to visit a ripoff merchant to get something fixed, or even just tested...

 

Factory reset windows 10 ( it was windows 7 )

hey everyone,

i have a laptop that was with Windows 7 and after Windows 10 release i updated it to Windows 10 for free ...

Now i want to clean my laptop and do a factory reset, but i'm not sure if i will lose the windows 10

if someone can help me and give me a step by step guide to how to do this and keep windows 10 i will be greateful
