    I got my Microsoft account compromised. I was able to get back into the account using my number saved to it. I've already changed the password but the person who got into my account changed the recovery email to their own. Now I'm unable to manage any security updates/go to additional security options until 30 days so I can't change the email they used without having to wait for it to update, nor can I enable 2FA, or sign them out. Is there any way I can immediately change the security information because by the time it updates, I would think the person who has my account would either reset th

    Why am I put on a waiting period for 30 days to change security details

    Why am I being out on a waiting list for 30 days to change a security detail like my email in which I can secure my account. I can't access my laptop despite me entering the correct PIN several times. Now I want to use a different sign in method but I have to wait 30 days! That's rubbish. Microsoft support team hasn't gotten back to me despite me sending a number of requests to recovery my account.

    It seems that you are facing the 30 days waiting period due to changing your security information.

    30 days waiting period is one of the security features that was created by Microsoft to secure the account to hackers. During the 30 days period, you won't be able to access the privacy settings of the account but the good thing is you should be able to open your mail section by going to Your request has been blocked.     Does changing security information take 30 days?

    Hi Sharon,

    Yes, it takes 30 days to update the security information for your account.

    However you can still change the password. After 30 days you will receive an email to confirm security info change. Once you confirm it, then it will be changed.
