Windows 10: Can I install windows 10 on an core i5 vpro toshiba laptop?

Hi!

I have a toshiba laptop, its an i5 vpro with 4GB memory and 500GB HDD space
this is a 32bit machine

Would I be able to install windows 10 and still be able to use the laptop like I could while running windows 7?

You see, at work my laptop runs on windows 10 but its a faster machine, At home I have a laptop that runs on windows 7 but I want it to run on windows 10

Would this be possible?

Windows 10 Touch sreen

I never used the touchscreen feature before on my laptop. But i am using Windows 10 Enterprise and my PC is an intel CORE i5 vPro inside.

 

Windows 10 upgrade - crashed 2 different PC's

I received the upgrade notice for windows 10 on my laptop last week.

I thus today started the upgrade on 2 machines (one direct from the link, second from the media creation tool)

Laptops are: Toshiba Core I5 with 8GB Ram running windows 7 with all latest updates as of yesterday

Dell Venue 11 Pro with Core I5 vPRO processor with Windows 8.1 with current updates as of Saturday 8/15

Both passed the windows 10 upgrade test.

I naively started the upgrade process without backing up the drives.

Both PC's now fail to even turn on. I can't even get to the BIOS screen. Neither will boot from the USB with a windows recovery disk...

WHAT TO DO? THIS IS ABSOLUTELY CRAZY. THOUGH I CAN BE CALLED NAIVE FOR NOT BACKING UP MY DATA - HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLE PUSH AN UPDATE THAT DESTROY'S A PC?

PLEASE - NEED HELP. BOTH COMPUTERS ARE FOR WORK / SCHOOL - LOTS OF DATA IS LOCKED ON AN INACCESSIBLE MACHINE ALL DUE TO WINDOWS 10 UPGRADE.

Quite likely it should not be a problem. That CPU should also support 64 bit OS.

Click on 'My Computers' at the bottom left of this post and look at my 'system one'. You'll see that I have a Toshiba with a lower spec CPU than yours and it runs Windows 10 without a problem. If you update your System Specs to include the make and model of your laptop we can tell if Toshiba support this model for Windows 10. Even if it isn't a supported model (mine isn't) it may well be OK.

What specs you've given suggest it should be capable of running 64 bit. Microsoft still seem to be issuing a digital licence if you upgrade a licenced copy of W7 or W8 (though who knows for how much longer). If you upgrade you 32-bit Win7 you'll get 32-bit Windows 10 (Home or Pro, depending on the edition of Windows you are upgrading). This should activate and get a digital licence stored on Microsoft's activation servers. You could then do a clean install of 64-bit Windows 10 and it will activate from the digital licence. You must install the same edition, Home or Pro as you had after the upgrade (the licence is only valid for that edition).

Making an image of the old install using MR Free or similar would also be advisable. You can slso retrieve your current W7 key (if you do not have a disk with a key sticker on it) using ShowkeyPlus.

I have an acer core I5 Vpro running 64 bit Creators edition you should have no problems and 64 bit is better for security
