Windows 10: Can i install windows 10 on my new SSD?

Hello

I just bought a new SSD and obviously i would prefer to install Win10 on that instead of my HDD.

My question is this: "will i be able to install Win10 on this since my new SSD obviously don't have Win 7 on it."

This might be a stupid question but i hope someone can help.

I can not install Skype on my new windows 10 upgrade

I recently upgraded from windows7 to windows 10. That's when hell broke lose... My machine started crashing with an error message SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (ks.sys). I initially thought some of the apps on my old system were not compatible and so I reset
my machine but remained with my files. That's when I realized that skype could have been the issue all along. When I try installing it, I get the same message and the system restarts. How can I sort out this issue?

 

Yes, if you purchase Windows 10. If you want the free upgrade, you'll need to have 7/8/8.1 installed first and activated. Once you do the free upgrade, you'll be able to do clean installs of Windows 10 on that computer anytime you want in the future.

Luckily i do have my product key for Win7, so i guess i then have to install Win7 on the SSD and then upgrade. Seems a bit clumsy but it will do.

 

It definitely does, and I wasn't happy about it. I assumed we'd get keys e-mailed to us and we could go right to the clean installs. At least you only have to do it once. I'm building a new tower, so I may install 8.1 to make sure it's working properly hardware-wise, then after the upgrade, wipe it all out and install Windows 10 clean for good.

 

I believe as long as the machine you want to put the SSD in has already been activated through the free upgrade then i think you will be able to put the ssd in and do a clean install and it should activate.

The activation process doesn't look at the hard drive for authentication from the testing i have done.
As a test i upgrade 7 to 10 and it was activated, i then took the hard drive out and put it in a different machine, it obviously booted up with windows 10 but now wasn't activated. I then put the hard drive back into the original machine and it showed as activated again.

Thats as much testing as i have done so far
