Windows 10: Can I keep my data & app settings when upgrading from a USB stick ISO?

My system install of build 10162 won't activate, as they pulled the validation from these builds. Unfortunately, I can't upgrade to 10240, which can, I was told by Windows support, be activated. This is because Windows isn't already activated!!! (Windows Update won't download it (it always stays at 0% *Sad)).

To solve this, I want to upgrade manually and thus I flashed the ISO on a blank USB stick. Can I keep all my data and app settings, etc. if I upgrade using the ISO on the stick? Or, in other words, is it possible to "upgrade" when installing an ISO, or do I have to do a clean install?

I want to go back to windows 7 but I deleted my windows .old folder.

How would I do that? I have a usb stick thing and can I use it to take applications most important to me and stick it on to there and then go and take my applications and when the windows 7 is done can I put the applications back? Will I have to put the
data back like the program file data back too? Meaning go into program files, get the app data put it in the usb stick thing? How do I restore back?

 

Can I transfer my existing Samsung Keys music library to a new laptop that has windows 10?

Unfortunately my laptop is so old I can't successfully connect my new phone to it. I can transfer the Samsung Kies to a USB stick & open the file on the old laptop via the USB file, but when I try to open the Kies file from the USB stick on the new laptop
it saves as a shortcut and won't open.

If you so choose you can keep everything even with ISO upgrade. Mount ISO somewhere, I prefer USB, doesn't have to be bootable, and click on setup.exe. it will ask you which way to upgrade.

Of course it is, it's even better because if something goes wrong you can start repairs by booting from it.
