  1. Can I make a boot drive without a Gpu?

    Hi,

My Gpu died. I have bought a whole new pc, as the original is ancient, and didn't buy a new copy of Windows because I thought I could use my old hdd to boot off but I'm not sure how to make a boot drive or if it's even possible without a Gpu.

Do I need to just buy another copy of windows?

    Please help...

    P. S my new gpu is not compatible with my old motherboard.

    :)

    Can't boot from DVD drive

Is your controller in RAID/AHCI modes? If so, the DVD drive will be listed as a separate device in the list of available boot devices, not as "CDROM". Remember that when setting boot device priority. Otherwise, read the manual to see which hotkey during POST brings up the boot menu that lets you select which device to boot from. Even here, the drive will be listed separately, and not as "CDROM".

Can I make a boot drive without a Gpu?

    GPU

    Hi Michael

Open Device Manager (accessible by right clicking your Start Button)

    Expand the Display Adapters section

You should see your GPU listed, along with possibly an integrated graphics option

If that is no listed there:

Boot into BIOS (start your system, then on the manufacturers screen, repeatedly press the appropriate key (usually F2) to enter BIOS

Under System Information, you should find your GPU listed

If you still cannot find the GPU listing, what is the Make and exact Model No. of your PC - that will be printed on a sticker on the bottom casing . ..
