Windows 10: Can I migrate my digital license from one machine to another machine.

So I am planning to upgrade my laptop's SSD, and windows is installed in the old SSD. So i want my windows license in my new SSD. Can you please tell me how i can do it.

What happens to digital license on old machine

I am building a new machine in the next few days. I have a digital license for Windows Pro 64 bit on the old machine.

When installing Win10 64 bit on the new machine I'd like to use that digital license to get the Pro features.

So, what happens to the old machine license? I'd like to run them side by side for a week or so to move data and make sure settings on the new machine are close to the old setup. Does it downgrade the old machine to Win10 Home? Is the old machine even usable
(for a short time)?

If the license is the full version Windows 10 Pro digital download and not the $99 Windows 10 Pro Pack, yes, you can transfer it to your Mac and reactivate it.

If the license was linked to your Microsoft Account, then all you need to do is install Windows 10 Pro through Boot Camp then follow the steps below.

Click Start > Settings > Update & security > Activation

Click Troubleshoot

Sign into your Microsoft Account

Select your previous machine then click Next for it to activate.

If it does not activate, change the machine name to the one listed in the Activation Troubleshooter wizard.

Restart the machine, then try activating again.

Migration of Windows 10 Digital License

Hey there!

For last two weeks I have been trying to migrate my Windows 10 Digital License from old laptop that has reached end of his life and is about to be put away on a shelf and be the machine 'for emergencies'. Now, I think that in general it is possible - if I remember right the license that is currently present on my laptop has been also transfered years back from another old machine, which then was being decomissioned in favor of new laptop.

The problem is, whatever I do the solution does not want to stick. I've tried to link both devices with microsoft account then migrate the license using 'I've changed the hardware lately' but it only helped for a week or so.

After some search, there doesn't seem to be any 'click this to do that' solution, so any advice on that would be appreciated - as far as I understand moving digital license (not an OEM one) should be possible

PS. No, I do not have printed activation key or anything - figured out back then that associating license with microsoft account was enough to manage my licenses so I've lost track of where it could be right now (or if it wasn't disposed/thrown away/burned in furnace as garbage)
