  1. Can I move my Windows 10 Pro onto a larger SSD?

I have an original 1 TB HDD with my official copy of Win 10 Pro. I hope to install a 2 TB SDD which has a unknown copy of Win 10 Home apparently 'ready to use' into my Dell Optiplex 9020, where current OS is. I'm not sure how to go about it. The SSD is recognized on File Explorer and Disk Manager, but does not boot up with the OS that is on it. It is recognized in the boot list on BIOS, as well as under Drives, but on trying, there is nothing bootable at all. Should I format this SSD, then switch over my 10 Pro, will that make it bootable? Not to mention how to make the switch in the fir

Move Win10 pro to larger SSD

I have read many MSFT and other web sites on how to move Win10 pro to a new larger SSD. But have not been able to successfully move my C: drive.

I used diskmgmt.msc to clone my current ~256GB SSD to a new 1TB SSD. But can't figure how to make the new SSD the boot drive.

Can someone please provide guidance on the best references to achieve this move?

If all else fails, does Microsoft have a support for this?

    Thank you.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Move Windows 10 from installed hdd to installed ssd

If you want to move it from hard disk, system image or cloning would be your options:

Choose system image if the SSD is equal in size or larger than hard disk:

    Choose cloning if its not:

    OR

You can remove the hard disk, reinstall Windows 10 directly to SSD, reattach the hard drive and format it.

to download official Windows 10 ISO files
